Are you looking for a new opportunity and eager to strengthen our SHE department? We are offering a full-time position for an enthusiastic SHE Officer who will work together with our teams to ensure a safe and healthy working environment across our two facilities in Ter Apel.

If you do not have an MVK training or direct experience in Safety, Health, or Environment, we encourage you to apply. We provide comprehensive internal training and offer an MVK training course if needed.

In this dynamic role, we seek an individual capable of establishing structure and ensuring a culture of safety compliance, extending from managerial levels to the shop floor. Responsibilities include addressing unsafe situations, investigating incidents, and implementing improvement measures.

Tasks and responsibilities:

  • Serve as the primary point of contact within the organization for safety and environmental matters;
  • Report, record, investigate, and follow up on (near) incidents and accidents to identify safety risks and propose improvement measures;
  • You are responsible for structuring, drawing up, developing and keeping procedures, work instructions, company regulations and forms up to date;
  • You are responsible for testing and evaluating compliance with regulations and procedures, by initiating risk inventories & evaluations (RI&E), conducting safety rounds/inspection rounds and following up on the resulting action plans;
  • You monitor the legal requirements and, where necessary, take measures to continue to comply with government legislation and regulations;
  • You draw up, assess and update the SHE instructions and procedures;
  • You help supervise internal audits and analyze the reports of the findings on risks;
  • You ensure the registration of hazardous substances including the management of safety sheets. You are responsible for applying for (revision) environmental permits, exemptions, notifications and annual reports;
  • You ensure compliance with the Safety, Health and Environment regulations;
  • You are an ADR safety expert for the location(s).

What do we expect from you?

  • HBO level of education preferably in chemistry, process technology, or related field;
  • Knowledge of safety, health, environment, and sustainability legislation and regulations is advantageous;
  • ADR Safety expert certification or willingness to undergo training for this;
  • Ability to clearly establish boundaries and intervene in unsafe situations or environmental concerns in a constructive manner;
  • A technical background is beneficial;
  • Proficiency in both Dutch and English, both spoken and written;
  • Proactive, respectful, and collaborative attitude, with a pragmatic approach to problem-solving.
