[Ter Apel, September 19, 2025] – Ofichem proudly celebrated its 50th anniversary, marking half a century of dedication to excellence, innovation, and long-term partnerships. Founded in 1975, by Dr. Otto H. Oldenziel and his wife Ina Oldenziel-
Meursing, the company has grown from a visionary enterprise producing fine chemicals into a trusted name across the development and manufacturing of both drug substances and drug products, and the sourcing and distribution of APIs
serving customers all over the world.
Over the past five decades, Ofichem has remained a family owned company, and with the sudden passing of Dr. Otto H. Oldenziel in 2006, the leadership was taken over by his son Dr. Weite H. Oldenziel, who is currently still the owner and CEO.
Under his leadership, Ofichem evolved to meet the changing needs of its customers and the market, through strategic investments, technological advancement, and a strong focus on quality and reliability. The company has now built a reputation for delivering value-driven solutions while maintaining the highest professional standards.
The remarkable milestone was celebrated with an anniversary party in Ter Apel for the entire staff. The day started with a welcome speech by the mayor of Westerwolde, Jaap Velema, followed by an impressive speech by Dr. Weite H. Oldenziel where he looked back on the challenges and successes in the past and showed his vision for the future, looking ahead with confidence and ambition.
For this occasion, Ofichem released a special book detailing the history of the company. Dr. Weite H. Oldenziel presented the first copy of the book to his mother, Ina Oldenziel-Meursing, and the second copy to mayor Jaap Velema.
After further activities such as guided tours, an entertaining quiz, and a variety of food and drinks enjoyed in exceptionally beautiful weather, the celebrations ended with a party with live music.
