Operations Optimization Internship

About the Role:
Are you seeking a dynamic internship where you can play a crucial role in optimizing business processes? As an Operations Optimization Intern at Ofimedicine, you'll have the unique opportunity to engage in essential projects aimed at enhancing our end-to-end process. Throughout this six-month internship, you'll work alongside our Operations & Supply Chain team, gaining hands-on experience in the pharmaceutical industry while actively contributing to acceleration and cost-effectiveness.

Responsibilities:

  • Process Analysis: Conduct comprehensive analyses of existing operations processes, identifying bottlenecks, inefficiencies, and areas for improvement;
  • Data Collection and Evaluation: Gather relevant data and metrics to assess the performance of current processes, utilizing tools such as Excel, PowerBI, SQL, or other data analysis software;
  • Root Cause Analysis: Investigate root causes of inefficiencies and delays in the end-to-end process, working collaboratively with cross-functional teams to address underlying issues;
  • Solution Development: Propose innovative solutions and process enhancements to streamline operations, improve speed, and reduce costs, considering factors such as regulatory compliance and quality standards;
  • Implementation Support: Assist in the implementation of approved process improvements, collaborating with stakeholders to ensure smooth execution and adherence to timelines;
  • Performance Monitoring: Continuously monitor and evaluate the impact of implemented changes, tracking key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure success and identify further optimization opportunities;
  • Documentation and Reporting: Maintain thorough documentation of process changes, including standard operating procedures (SOPs), work instructions, and performance reports. Prepare regular progress reports and presentations for internal stakeholders.

Qualifications:

  • Currently pursuing a Master's degree in (Bio)Process Technology, Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or related field;
  • Strong analytical skills with proficiency in data analysis and interpretation;
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities with a detail-oriented and proactive approach;
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across departments and levels of the organization;
  • Familiarity with pharmaceutical manufacturing processes and regulatory requirements (preferred but not required);
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) and data analysis tools;
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.

Ofimedicine is part of the Ofichem Group and operates from the Bio Science Park in Leiden. We specialize in the production of high-quality generic medicines and provide medications and services for the European market. Utilizing our R&D laboratory, GMP laboratory, and GMP production environment, we offer flexible solutions on both large and small scales.
